*Britten V1000 – An Engineering Marvel*

Strange Fruit says:

John Brittens death was a real tragedy for motorcycle devolvement.
He was a visionary
If he’d have still been with us today – WE WOULD HAVE HOVVER BOARDS by now,
trust me !
RIP John Fella

David Hill says:

RIP John Britten ,such a shame his genius was cut short

Jonathan Mackie says:

had a rare turn out of Brittens here in Christchurch on the weekend

touristguy87 says:

so 25 years later you can’t find a guy who can focus a video camera?

turboslag says:

The Britten is my favourite bike of all time, I like to think of it as what
Vincent would have made if they had continued in production. It reflects
much of the same design philosophy as Vincent did back in the 50’s but
manifested in modern production technology. I tried VERY hard to find the
funds to buy a Britten back in the day but just couldn’t manage it. I did
buy the model of it though, together with some other merchandise it was my
first internet purchase direct from Britten back in 1996!! If anybody
reading this hasn’t seen the video on designing, making and racing the
Britten, do it!! One of the most inspiring things I’ve ever seen. RIP
John, very sadly missed.

Graham Wallace says:

I had the great fortune to meet John and he was an extremely pleasant
person, he talked to me for some time about the Britten, after his death I
meet his beautiful wife in Kirsteen in Tauranga New Zealand what a lovely
couple RIP John.

Ibrar Siddiqi says:

Jealous….

Mr X says:

I don’t understand the 26 thumbs down! what is wrong with people??? not
real bike enthusiasts in my book!

Amba Snakeman says:

I really wish the Britten team makes a crashable copy and let a rider like
Marquez, Rossi or butter Lorenzo do a flat out test

Edison73100 says:

One of the greatest engineering minds of all time and a total free thinker
without borders. Greatly missed.

dylan miester says:

what a stunning machine, well before its time

jeffmetaldemonz says:

Such an awesome bike, a tale of triumph and tragedy RIP john Britten

KiwiHoonMoto says:

This has been in my local museum for the last 12 years I was wondering
where it went!

remyleouf says:

really you had to put the gopro hardness on a sport bike ? you know we only
see the tank

Jon Gene says:

A true Kiwi legend! What an inspirational man…John didnt have all the
resources and money like the other countries/manufacturers, but a hell of a
lot more heart and passion!

Michael Emery says:

I remember reading an article about this bike. At 180 mph it pulled so hard
it was hard to hold onto.

Gohot229 says:

This bike was Leagues ahead of everything when it was built. The Japs had
some awesome bikes, but they were still in the somewhat awkward stages.
then the R1 emerged to take the world by storm.

2004F650dakar says:

What an amazing bike. It is the Holy Grail of motorcycles. It looks
absolutely amazing and it sounds fantastic. Thanks for sharing this
video!!!

Mr X says:

John Britten created a bike that is still to this day way ahead of its
time! what a machine!

usat42 says:

MOZZO 1972 THE REASON COULD BE HOW THEY TALK SO MUCH CRAP ABOUT IT ,,SURE
IT’S A GREAT BIKE ,BUT IT ONLY EVER WON 2 RACES .NEVER FRONTED UP TO THE
BIG BOYS ,,,,

Nelson Venezia says:

I saw a Britten at a small museum in Solvang, Ca. I looked at and analyzed
every single square inch of it. Unspeakable. The curator, after two hours
of looking at the Britten, asked me when I was going to look at the other
bikes. I replied, what other bikes?
Nelson

powersliding says:

its an icon symbolizing a fusion of genius and passion in harmony

vulturnuszan says:

when you see one in person you can just stare at it for hours.

Istanbul Rider says:

Awesomeness on too many levels. This would be the proof I would provide if
trying to prove time travel has, is, will take place. It was just too far
ahead of everyone and everything.

Brendan BerbleSnap says:

your camera man sucks, too shaky

simon ellis says:

Beautiful beyond belief…. So happy to have seen them at the TT in 1994…
Only downside was that Mark Farmer was killed at Black Dub.
John Britten, you are a legend.

KathrynLiz1 says:

A while back (10 years or so) I watched Andrew Stroud on the Britten at
Manfield. It was in a class of its own on that “rider’s track”,,,, amazing.
I think the circuit in this video is Manfield actually, I was there just a
month or so back…..
Such a shame that Cancer (melanoma) took John from us; who knows what his
bikes would be like by now?……

650ib says:

The Britten is an awesome bike! I’m happy to have the modern day version of
it, the Ducati Panigale!

36Rza says:

This Britten V1000 is an amazing feat of engineering, from all angles it’s
a work of art, totally fascinating but one thing I don’t understand is why
manufactures are so addicted to inline 4 cylinder engines when you see this
bike many years ago (and even today) proving how great a V-twin engines
are, Moto Gp bikes with their V5 engine and yet it’s only recently some
different variations are becoming popular like the Aprillia V4 and the 3
cylinder engines that the Triumph have been using for around 15 years. I
ride a minitwin and would be lost without that noise and feel less
connected to the machine without that beautiful engine braking.

zhengyu Ban says:

A legend!

justsaying2000 says:

Gotta love the fact that the first Britten was designed and hand-built in
John’s back yard shed… and it took the racing world by storm. Blowing
away all the factory builds with all their design and testing capabilities,
and their far, far larger funds…. Way to go John Britten. You’ve
definitely done NZ proud.

コシバマサミ says:

Britten (NewZealand)

Stevie Savage says:

WTF – one of the best sounding bikes in the world and they put violin music
right over it!!

Grant Dempsey says:

What an honour to ride the Britten – how nervous would you be? no one wants
to be the one to drop the Britten. Such a shame John wasn’t able to carry
on his innovation.

gixer1000live says:

you lucky , lucky bastard. if there`s one bike i would like to ride before
i left this life it is this one, seen it at the t.t. and it was something
very special. built in a shed by a genius..and i still love it after all
these years,

DonLeon B says:

Is there someone who can tell me what reason there is for putting
music right over the most exciting part of this movie.
I think that when John Britten saw this himself, he would cry.

S Young says:

This is the top of my list of most desirable bike of all time.

justsaying2000 says:

Also would have nice to see it opened right up…. but understand why not
haha

Lindsay Fog says:

spafro101 says:

Crazy that I never heard of this thing

Tyrone Ross says:

As an engineer, I can only look up to great men like John Britten!

sovereign sun says:

Kiwis build bikes jet boats yachts etc Aussies build clothes lines
and make vegemite which is the bi product of kiwi Marmite they also claim
to be the first to fly that was debunked because it was two kiwi brothers
from where burt Monroe came from not the Wright brothers they call it
corporate theft these days but will give them that one as they haven’t
developed much they tend to import there ideas
