BMW R1200R first ride | First rides | Motorcyclenews.com
The new BMW R1200R roadster will cost £10,250 when it hits dealers in February and is powered by BMW’s latest-generation, 125bhp liquid-cooled 1170cc boxer engine, which first appeared in last year’s revamped R1200GS and this year’s RT tourer and GS Adventure.
There’s a new chassis and styling, but the biggest news is the move away from the old machine’s Telelever front end. New, non-adjustable, 45mm upside-down forks promise to give the R1200R a less quirky feel at the front end. But there’s still BMW’s tried and tested Paralever system at the rear, incorporating shaft drive.

Thumbnail really confused me on this one.
yea, I thought there was a bounce back to a retro-airhead model or
something too.
boxers sound like a wet fart.
Boring…..
Rain sound going on my nerves
Take a look at this video on YouTube:
How do you manage to always record in a windy environment.
Come on, Guzzi Griso 1200 8v ?!
I’m really excited about the R1200R, I thought I was 100% going to buy the
2015 when I saw they even added the quick shifter, cruise, and active
suspension as options.
Now I’m on the fence b/c of the scrambler, where this would definitely be
better on the highway (and it hits a much higher price point), both bikes
seem like epic fun, and I think the scrambler will be much more fun around
town!
I think for an ‘all around’ bike capable of touring, I may go with the
R1200R. Though I priced one out on BMW website, and with all the goodies
you’re closing in on S1k territory, lmao, it gets quite pricey!
I’m looking forward to your massive treat when you review the R1200RS. Got
to choose.
Why does BMW even make a boxer motor anymore? I know they run forever and
are fairly bulletproof but i could never understand how a company could
make such a ugly engine and attach it to a motorbike. They were making
those great 800 twins that surley should have retired these 1901 grandpa
bikes.
…Telelever Fork? Wow whats going on by BMW?
An Ordinary Upsidedown Fork…unbelievable… But SORRY BMW I choose mine
Monster 1200S 😉
This and the other BMW have no Charisma no Sound….bored Bike like the
other BMW’s Greets from Germany
I don’t like the dash and headlight. :-/
First, from the wet east coast of Canada ;)
