On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman heads to Graz, Austria, the home of one of the world's toughest off roaders - the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. The last time a G63 appeared on Head 2 Head, it beat out the all-new and quite excellent Range Rover Supercharged. This time, however, the G63 faces even stiffer competition — another G63. Of course, this particular G has an extra axle, because it's the $500,000+ G63 AMG 6x6! Costing roughly twice as much as the awesome twin-turbo V-12 powered G65, the 6x6 is the ultimate expression of the Gelandewagen... on paper. But is it actually any good? Is the 6x6 as awesome as it looks, or is the regular G-Wagen just too well thought out? And why is the 6-wheeled truck always jumping in the air like that? Watch and find out!

6×6 makes U.S trucks loom like toys? Dude, it had 2 more back tires, and
cost over 400k, the Ford Raptor could do everything the 6×6 did in this
video.

this car is a dream my son has this game with a little modified version and
i drove it once and it was really fun and it may be a game but they
simulate the 6 axles very good

the range rover won the last test and in the end you said the range was
less expensive by 30k and more luxurious and better off road and more
comfortable. but you choose the g wagon because you “like it”

I’d like to see a h2h between the G63 AMG 6×6 and the Ghe-O Rescue
G63 probably better on gas? Come on Johnny, you’re smarter than that. It’s
MUCH better on fuel, MUCH better. Surely the 6×6 gets 7 or 8 mpg at most
versus 13 for the G63.

I understand making it twice the price but almost FOUR times what the
regular one cost? Fuck that, not worth it.
This is what happens when AMG engineers get bored.
I love the fact that some automotive company out there said “what the fuck,
let’s just do it.” And made a completely crazy, expensive, and unnecessary
off-road machine with almost every bell and whistle you can think of,
stock. For that amount, you could obviously modify any other truck/suv to
be just as capable(hell, even to have it done for you). But it makes me
envious that a company like Jeep was beaten to an idea like this. They
treaded in that direction with the rubicon, but they didn’t go crazy.
They’re ultimately more interested in keeping sales up by catering to their
main demographic: soccer moms and spoiled kids with rich parents that want
the new JKU.
I thing the 6*6 its more compatator to Unimog
it seems like the only customers who would see use for the 6×6 would be
foreign dictators.
This video is in many, many ways better than the Top Gear counterpart in
Dubai with Richard Hammond. And that was batshit cool.
5:10 no-one cares about gas in these kind of cars ^^ The thing one might
consider is the cruising range. Just give it a huge tank, allow it to be
filled up from two sides simulationiously and voila :D
So, basically a RALLY vehicle, 6×6 and it is AUTOMATIC? What the fuck is

And, the manual thing in this car, isn’t manual, a GEAR is a manual, not
little clickers in the wheel

Austria is NOT a home of G-class. It’s Germany, wrong country. Under

He says “it’s one thing to test a super truck such as a 6×6 in a controlled
environment such as the proving ground, it’s another thing entirely to see
how it stacks up against nature. Then he doesn’t even take it around nature
all he does is take it around some bumpy country roads. He needs to take it
out to a place with some real rocks and offroad places like Moab. A jeep
modified would cost at most $150,000 would be ten times better offroad then
the 6×6. The 6×6 is for driving on bumpy country roads because you’ll be
worried about scratching the paint on your $625000 truck. The 6×6 is the
dumbest vehicle to ever come out I Germany.

So much negativity twords this thing.. Its the equivalent of a super car
but its a truck. No one seems to mind spending half a mill or more on a car
that your never able to unleash, but all of a sudden you think this is
stupid? Or comparable to a Jeep? A lambo is stupid.. This thing is fucking
sick. Check out top gears episode on it, and tell me its not the best
production vehicle for the job.

Why not just buy a Hummer H1…? Probably preforms as good, if not better
than the G63 6X6, and cost’s only around $140,000 brand new,….. compared
to the $600,000 + price tag on the G63…
